Lorenzo Lotto, Crucifixion

Lorenzo Lotto, Crucifixion, ca. 1534, Monte San Giusto, church of Santa Maria in Telusiano

The large canvas (cm 425,5 x 248) was painted by Lorenzo Lotto in Venice in 1533 and finished in the Marche region, where the painter added a portrait of the client (the bishop Niccolò Bonafede).

It is well preserved  on the main altar, within the beautiful original architectural setting, in the little church of S. Maria in Telusiano in Monte San Giusto, a little town in the Province of Macerata.

It is really worth to be seen. And if you are fond of Lorenzo Lotto, may I suggest you have a look at this web-site wholly devoted to the Venetian painter.
