When I heard about the ‘Frecce Tricolori’ (lit. ‘Tricolor Arrows’) coming to Pesaro this Summer I could hardly believe it! My beloved 313° Gruppo Addestramento Acrobatico, the aerobatic team of the Italian Aeronautica Militare, was actually scheduled to perform in Pesaro on July 31st.
I’ve planned several times to visit their Rivolto Air Force Base, in the north-eastern region of Friuli Venezia Giulia but sofar I’ve never managed to make this dream come true (who knows? maybe next September).
Anyway, I went to see their performances in Falconara and Fano in the past, and did not miss their ‘rehearsal’ in Pesaro last Friday when they performed using ‘just’ the white smoke. And, of course, I was there yesterday, one hour before the show began, to get the best view on their amazing show performed – this time – using tricolor smoke (green, white and red: the colors of the Italian Flag).
The team flies the Aermacchi MB-339-A/PAN and they are totally out of their minds! Their show is breath-taking and makes me proud to be Italian 🙂

25 minutes of non-stopping awe till the very end of their show, when the team flies away towards the horizon line with Luciano Pavarotti singing ‘Nessun dorma’ from Puccini’s ‘Turandot’.

Dear Rhonda. How sweet of you! Thank you so much for your warm concern and prayers. I was in Berlin with my family when the earthquake took place and got back just two days ago. One of the most damaged villages, Pescara del Tronto, is actually in the Marche region, where I live. My parents could feel the earthquake and a few old churches around our town underwent little damages. We live in the northern part of Marche. No victims here, thank God. Grazie mille for your prayers. We Italians have been so moved by the terrible consequences of the earthquake, and we also got moved by the help that foreign countries are willing to give us. Most of all though we cherish warm messages from friends, close and far away. Like the one you sent me so full of concern and empathy. God bless you and your family 🙂

Hi Brad! Tomorrow I’m leaving for Friuli Venezia Giulia, up in the north of Italy. Guess what I’m going to visit? The military air base of Frecce Tricolori in Rivolto (in the province of Udine)!!!
